Do I have IPv6 – and how do I get it?
Do I have IPv6?
Go to test-ipv6.se. Within a few seconds you'll see whether your connection has IPv6, which address you appear with and whether something along the way is causing problems.
Test every network you use. Often the mobile network has IPv6 while your broadband at home or the network at work doesn't.
In Sweden, every mobile operator has switched on IPv6, except Telia. The day Telia does, IPv6 traffic in Sweden will probably double.
How do I get IPv6?
In Sweden, many people buy their home router themselves rather than getting one from their ISP. That almost always means you have to enable IPv6 in the router yourself, even when the ISP provides it. So start with your router's settings. I show what this looks like in some common routers in Home router test, October 2025 (PDF).
The rest depends on where you are:
- IPv6 at home – broadband in a house or apartment.
- IPv6 for your business – offices, your own services and your own addresses.
